Treatment depends on cause of pain. You need to go to someone that can tell you the reason for your sever lower back pain.

My dad broke his back about 15 years ago and he’s 59 and he’s a mechanic and he has the city because he works for it and he is the manager and supervisor so he broke it because he was trying to manage while working on a car and he was looking up and twisted so he takes a prescription for lower back pain called Percocet and it is prescription narcotic so ask your doctor about it. Also, my dad’s doctor thought it was a kidney stone or a kidney infection, you should ask your doctor about that also. My dad was so sick he ran over a pile of trash that’s been on the road and could hardly stand up. Today he mowed the grass and felt much MUCH better. Good luck and hope you feel better!!

I would first see the proper doctor, a neurologist, he can make some tests and send you to an orthopedic surgeon or a therapist.

I would suggest getting to a doctor who would order a MRI. My regular Family doctor ordered one when I had severe back pain. When the MRI was read he found the results were beyond his expertise he referred me to a neurosurgeon. Once the problem is diagnosed then you will know who to see. Good Luck

Chiropractors are experts in dealing back pain. If your chiropractor feels that they can help you out I would go ahead with treatments, they have a very high success rate.

Hi Kizboss
Being a Chiropractor I can tell you now…
See someone who cares!!!
If you have back pain for 3 weeks and it is not easign by now – see someone else. It could be another Chiro, Medic or PT.
No different to a mechanic. If the car is still broken after seeing a mechanic you find a better one. The same with your back.
There are many different types of Chiro … and medic etc.
But ring one and ask for 10minutes of their time -FREE!
If they won’t give you ten minutes so you can ask them a few questions (how long to get better, what is wrong, how they work differently to what you have had already, costs etc). If they won’t give you 10 minutes foind someone who will. Then you have found someone who actually wants to help.
Also try a few self help techniques, see the link below and you can dramatically reduce your pain and still then see someone. But check these out and use them now for some relief.

I had back pain for years. It got so bad that, except for bathroom visits, I spent 3 days on the floor with my lower legs on the couch (picture sitting upright in a chair and rotating it 90 degrees).
I have Blue Cross so I went to my family doctor. He recommended an Orthopedist. At the time I thought they were Voodoo doctors, but for a $5 co-pay; what the heck.
On my first visit, after listening to my issues, he twisted me in a ball and squeezed. After 3 visits all pain was gone and I was walking normally. Pain has never come back. Will it work for you? I don’t know..But it’s like chicken soup, “….can’t hurt.”
A major difference between the chiropractor and the Orthopedist is the later is an MD (or higher).
