? Melody asked:

I heard there are a few. Is it the drug itself or does something make you want to eat more?

I’m not sure how to spell it but a family member was on the antidepressant zyprexa and she gained at least 50+ pounds over time. Of course this lead to her being more depressed about her appearance.

Honestly I think all, all of them affect your weight in some way
Some make you gain and some even may make you lose or some may just make you gain a pound or two
Paxil, prozac and celexa make you gain in my opinion =)

Effexor XR does not make you gain weight. It is a very effective medication for treating depression. Ask your doctor which medications are best for you.

there are alot of meds that the side effect is weight gain. and it is the med itself. Paxil is one that puts the weight on you. i was on paxil and was trying to diet (not knowing that was a side effect) i went to my doctor and was complaining about not being able to lose weight when he switched my meds due to that.
