What is a good drug to take for panic disorder that isn’t a benzodiazipine?

Got a bunch for you to pick from, fella…most are anti-depressants. Try Placil, Prozac, Paxil, Effexor and the ever present Zoloft. Spin the wheel & take your choice ! Good luck.

Antidepressants generally are a better choice for limiting the number and severity of attacks, though they don’t do anything when you do have one. The tricyclics tend to be a little more effective, but the newer agents such as SSRI’s are much more popular because of their better side-effect profiles. Brief psychotherapy (about 6 weeks) helps, and cognitive therapy helps control the attacks you still have.
