What are your main symptoms of PTSD?

June 8th, 2010

Keep it Green asked:

1.Intense physical reactions to reminders of the event (e.g. pounding heart, rapid breathing, nausea, muscle tension, sweating)

2.Sense of a limited future (you don’t expect to live a normal life span, get married, have a career)

3. Anxiety, panic attacks.
Those above are my main symptoms….

are they normal…Have you experienced them before??

Nightmares & repetitive thoughts of the stabbing are the big ones for me.

The symptoms that you described above are completely normal when a person suffers from PTSD. You may also have recurring flashbacks of the event. Also, a common symptom of PTSD is depression– feeling alone and worthless. (And yes, I experienced all of these)
Just remember though, these symptoms ARE NOT PTSD if they are not the result of a life threatening or traumatic event.
