Could be muscle spasms, pinched nerves, etc. I would definitely get this looked at.

I also have lower back problems. Massage therapy helps a lot but so do back exercises…light stretching. Your doctor should give you some you can do.

Try applying an ice pack for 15 minutes and then a heating pad for 15minutes.

I hope you feel better. But please try and see a doctor.

It is impossible to answer your question without knowing what the actual problem is. Go to your Doctor and have him/her send you for a CT or MRI scan.
The wrong type of treatment or exercises can do more damage than good and you need to have your back properly diagnosed prior to ANY treatment.
Again you do need to have a CT / MRI scan or such done before allowing ANYONE to touch your back.

Get a professional opinion from the radiologist doing the scan in his report to your doctor and then go from there.

The most common cause of this type of scenario is a spinal misalignment. When your spine is out of alignment it can cause a impingement (pinching) on the nerves in the lower back.

As for Beacons statements, an X-ray should only be taken if you fit the criteria called the Ottowa rules (i.e Patient over age 55, trauma, etc..),

An MRI or CT will only be taken if you have
    a) Progressive neurologic symptoms (i.e numbness and tingling in your feet or legs)
    b) Conservative methods have already failed.

They will not start with an MRI or CT first ( over 90% of the time it is unnecessary). Could you fall into that 10%? Sure, but it is unlikely.

So you really should see a chiropractor. They can diagnose your condition. In the 90% chance that it is a spinal misalignment, they will be able to correct that misalignment. This will allow the “pinching” feeling to go away and give your back some relief.

I really wish you the best
