Deborah Percy asked: People with severe anxiety disorder often mention that they feel like they are out of control as soon as the attack starts to hit its peak. Now the reason this happens is because we allow our imagination to take over once the fear arrives, very dangerous. I will explain how you can take back control it is actually very simple.
So what exactly is severe anxiety disorder? One minute you are a confident self assured person, then with in seconds you can feel powerless and vulnerable after the attack manifests its self. When the attack is in full swing and you have thousands of sensations running through you body, your mind tends to jump from logic to wild in seconds from the fear created by your own imagination.
The worst part for anyone who has sever anxiety disorder is, they just can not get their head around why they suddenly free powerless during a panic attack. Now this is where the first mistake kicks in, most people try to fight against an attack, they try to shut it down once there coping techniques such as, Slowing down the breathing has failed, this is when they leap over to the enemy, the wild imagination.
Severe anxiety disorder victims usually have this thought pattern! I do not know what to do i have used my coping techniques and it dose not seem to be helping, in fact i think the anxiety is getting worse.Fuel for the imagination. What if it gets that bad that something happens to me and there is no one around to help? This type of thinking is what actually fuels the attack and it just escalates the fear, this is why we feel vulnerable and out of control.
The secret to beating severe anxiety disorder is this, you need to regain control,l and then learn how to respond to the anxiety attack in an entirely different manner. When you work with the bodily sensations and not against them, this is how you can regain control.
Except it, be aware of it, ask it to bring on all the horrible side affects it normally gives you, and always remember this, fear is in you head a panic attack CAN NOT harm you physically.
This is the answer to being severe anxiety disorder free!JERMIAH

Yummy Mummy asked:
Hi I’ve been doing a little research, and it seems my partner has social anxiety disorder……….all the symptoms are there.
He was recently made redundant, but is keen to get back to work as we have a young family to support. However, even the thought of an interview gives him a full blown panic attack…..he breathes faster, he shakes, complains of a tight chest, even sweats…………all classic symptoms of social anxiety disorder. It’s not just the thought of an interview either. Whenever we are invited out, even to a friend or relatives house, we have to make an excuse as to why we can’t go as these situations cause panic attacks. Our daughter asked him to take her swimming and although he would love to he just doesn’t feel able to as he thinks he is being watched and judged constantly. We rarely go into town to shop, and he would sooner do our food shopping online just to avoid people. He knows all this is irrational, but it’s something he cannot control………think of a fear of spiders or needles but a LOT worse.
We want to get married, but even that panics him…..and before you say that’s normal, on this level I can assure you it’s not ( I suggested just having a couple of witnesses and our daughter present but even that sends him into panic mode)
Is there any help I can get for him, as this ongoing condition is not only disrupting our lives on a daily basis, but he feels he is making our daughter miss out on a lot of things other kids takes for granted. Basically he feels like a failure to us as a family, and that makes him more depressed every day.
He has been like this for as long as i can remember, and although I’m not a Dr, even I can see this is not a normal phobia……..it’s worse.
Thanks for not quitting this novel halfway through!
Richard

Buzzy bee asked: Here is a brief description what has happened.
2 weeks ago i was sat in my friends car and all of a suddent i felt a massive fuzzy feeling come over my face , i looked up and the world was really surreal and felt like i was on a boat, my heart was pounding and i felt like i was going to faint….my hands and feet went numb, and i thought i was a gonner. my friends called an ambulance who told me it was a probably a panic attack and it should pass within 4 hours and then i will be fine.
The thing is ive never been fine after that. My eyes are constantly spaced out and i have had about four more attacks and a really big one yesterday. I seem to have all the symptoms for an anxiety dissorder but the doctor said its probably more vertigo, blood, heart, and blood pressure all cam back fine, also went to the opticians and got a new perscription but they said my eyes were healthy enough.
The thing is that my kneck aches like mad and my ears feel really full…..but that could just be wax, but i have a feeling that its all this spacey vision that is triggering the panic attacks….anyone else feel the same?
Its so hard because i have all the symptoms of both of the ‘ Could Be Causes’ , i have the full ears, the vertigo feeling, the lightheadness, and alot of fatigue, along with panic attacks, which are the worst thing ive ever experianced.
Anyone got any comments or have been through or know someone who has been through the same experiance. Doctors really dont know whats going on and im trying to find out by myself now, they say it could be vertigo and gave me some prochloperazine (dont really know if its helping or not). some days i convince myself its a panic dissorder but then others when im constantly spacey and dizzy i read an article on inner ear problems andit seems to make more sense to be that.
Any help would be great guys its starting to really effect my life.
p.s also when i go outside the dizziness seems 5 times worse and makes me feel abit sickly…..but i know i dont have agrophobia, i love the outside and hanging out with friends…..

Adam asked:
This morning at about 5 AM I started to experience some intense chest pain. The pain spread to my left arm, neck, and sometimes to my back. At the time I thought I was either having a panic attack or a heart attack, but there were no other symptoms from a panic attack besides the chest pain and anxiety. The pain started to subside a bit after I took a hot shower and I was eventually able to fall asleep. It’s been over 12 hours and my chest/heart area still hurts, and when I lay down a certain way I can hear a strange sound when my heart beats. Any idea what this could be? Should I go to the hospital?

BeachBoarder asked: Earlier this year, I had my first panic attack and got really bad anxiety for a few months. I used some behavior therapy to basically rid myself of the mental issues and feel like I now have a strong mind.
Many physical symptoms of anxiety still linger on though. I will feel nauseous from time to time, twitchy, restless, depersonalized, dizzy and fatigued. I feel like I have defeated my panicky states, but why do these physical sensations still persist?
I do not wish to go on any sort of drug. I’d just like to hear any advice anyone has on this, thanks!
