How do you cure physical symptoms of stress? Are they definitely stress?

iloveyankees20 asked:

I’ve been constantly fatigued, suffering “panic attacks”, constant chest tightness and heaviness, sore muscles everywhere, occassional heart palpitations (skipping a beat), exhaustion, muscle twitches/spasms when I try to fall asleep, weakness, and a “lump” in my throat. I have had exceptional amounts of stress far beyond average levels in the past six months, so I don’t know if that’s it. My doctor’s and psychologist have labeled it a combo of General Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but I don’t know if I believe them. Heart disease is very prevalent in my family, and while I’m very young, I have already had two children very close together (11 months apart) and I don’t know if that put extra strain on my heart/body, plust post-pregnancy pounds total 100 over my ideal weight. what do you all think? these physical pains are making me insane! thanks for your input.

I think I have social anxiety? Really need someones advice?

June 18th, 2010

Kevin T asked:

I’ve always wondered if i had some sort of anxiety disorder. I’m 16 and have major trouble with social situations. Found a site with symptoms of social anxiety disorder:

Excessive fear of public speaking

Avoidance of social situations

Extreme fear of being judged or embarrassed

Blushing, sweating, shaking, pounding heart

Extreme discomfort with dating

Panic attack

Heart palpitations

Difficulty breathing

Feeling disoriented

Feeling loss of control

Dizziness or feeling faint

Compulsion to escape

I have all these symptoms.

I still haven’t seen a doctor for this yet.

Social life ***** for me. I can barely look a girl in the eye let alone date. And right now I’m taking a class during summer school. Only three other students in the class, all of which i know. And I get nervous there. I always try to avoid going to peoples houses or if i am at one and they want to go to their friends house and want me to join, I try to make an excuse. Also recently I started taking meds for adhd, but have noticed these symptoms FAR before then. Though it seems the meds kind of increase my social awkwardness. I really want to see a doctor and maybe get something prepscribed. I still want to take my ADHD meds. So if anyone knows of a anxiety medication that doesnt react with my other meds, please tell me. I am currently taking Concerta 36mg
UPDATE: The only problem I have getting treatment, is money. I don’t even know, if i were prepscribed meds, my parents would be able to afford them.

Is having occasional panic attacks which raise ur bp bad for your health?

December 16th, 2009

Luke asked:

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and if I get a bad one, I notice at the ER that my blood pressure shoots through the roof. Nothing TOO high but it can go 130/140s and very close to 150s, and the lower number can go into the 100-110 range.

Is this something I should be highly concerned with?

It normally drops to like 100 over 60 afterwards when I’m sedated, and it never stays at that level, but it can shoot up there in a matter of MINUTES!

Should I be concerned, becuase none of my doctors seem to be at all, whatsoever,

but people on this message board go crazy if you mention anything over 120/80.

I n eed some true advice.

I just saw a cardiologist today and he didn’t seem the slightest bit concerned.

He didn’t do any extensive tests on me since I Had heart palpitations frequently, but im also sick, so maybe during illness its more normal?

He said the palps and the anxiety/panic high bp are nothing to worry about.

Is this true?
I also notice that SOME times my LOWER number seems to be the most dramatically increased, and other times its the HIGHER number.

What could cause the lower one to increase, and what would cause the higher?
