Or sometimes even think about working. It’s two courses in particular. I just get very anxious and panicky, feel completely overwhelmed with what should be easy tasks…. major physical symptoms are shortness of breath, muscle tension, tension headaches, cold hands, sweats, lightheadedness. Try every day to talk sense into myself and it does not work, need help.

If I go to a school counselor and talk to them and get help, can they give a note to my professors informing them of this.. and get me excused/a second chance…
NOT trying to get out of anything.

Please go to see school counsellor quickly. That’s why school hire them. They won’t tell your professors because this is confidential. They are professionally trained. You should also talk to your classmates, friends and parents. Your classmates might have the same situations. Maybe your professors just try to be hard on you all. Maybe you are not alone. I am sure that you will feel better if your classmates feel the same ways. Please don’t work because you need to concentrate on studying first otherwise you will really fail.

You might try going to a hypnotherapist. I know from personal experience and also because I got certified in hypnotherapy that a good hypnotherapist can give you a post hypnotic suggestion,,or suggestions, that will enable you to do away with academic related anxiety. The thing to keep in mind is that the mind works best when relaxed, in terms of memory, comprehension and so on.
You also might want to explore what the underlying causes of the work related anxiety are with a smart friend or a counselor of some sort. . For example, are you doing the work to please yourself, or is it to please another, like a parent, or whatever. If you are at all angry because you feel you are being coerced to do something you’d rather not do, that alone can cause significant anxiety.
Don’t try too hard to talk “sense” into yourself, by the way. That could be some “internalized parent” or other authority figure inside your head telling you to “get a grip”. It’s not about “sense” or “will power” or “grip”. It’s about the subconscious, not the conscious.
The subconscious is more emotional and less “rational” than the conscious. It doesn’t always respond all that well to the “get it together” approach. It has to be approached more obliquely.
Some say the subconscious perceives things the way a child does. Children respond more quickly to emotion than “logic” as a rule. If a child is crying, trying to reason with that child won’t get you too far… a hug and a reassuring tone is usually more effective.
Hypnosis and/or regular therapy can get you in touch with your subconscious. Once you learn what your subconscious is trying to say to you vis-a-vis your anxiety attacks, you’re on your way to banishing that anxiety.
