savmcardle asked: I usually am ok, but today at work I’ve been having panic attacks and have been completely unable to focus. I havn’t told my boss about my disorder because I thought it was personal, but now I’m wondering if I should tell him. I get so nervous, would it be acceptable for me to send him an email or write a letter about it?

cassidy_21_03 asked: It’s common for a panic disorder to be accompanied by agoraphobia… but if a patient does NOT have a panic disorder but has GAD and agoraphobia, what would the Axis I diagnosis be?

Trojan8408 asked: I am a 23 yr old guy. I am fairly high functioning school and work wise. I have been diagnosed with this for about 6-7 years now, but have had it since I was about 13. I am good about taking my meds regularly.
My question is, do you ever feel like at times that you are losing it or are feeling “flaky,” like you want to just start all over in life or not stick stuff out–just out of the blue. It really scares me when this happens. I feel this way sometimes, as far as the thoughts coming into my mind and I just ignore them and try to go on. I know it is irrational thinking and if I let it get to me, I will end up doing wishy washy stuff and pissing off and hurting people that I don’t mean to or would ever want to. An example would be trying to cancel and then get a date back on and then on/off with a girl that I like a lot and I know wants to go out with me.
I was just wondering if anyone else ever goes through this?
It isn’t hearing voices like a schizophrenic would- it is more like compulsive thoughts that just kind of pop up and keep on popping up in my mind, almost like getting a very similar text message pop up mentally a whole bunch of times in a row. I also find myself wanting to do irrational stuff that doesn’t fit in my schedule or to just change jobs just for the heck of it, for the sake of change. It doesn’t make sense because maybe four to five hours later, I am like “what the hell was that?” Like I said earlier, I ignore it because I konw it will not only end up hurting me and others- in a lot of cases even more-as well.
What can I do about this? Is there anything that you do as far as coping skills or something along those lines to help with those thoughts? Thanks for all of your help and time.

Charles C asked: What are some relaxation techniques for Generalized Anxiety Disorder?
I recently found out this is something I have and I want to figure out ways to unwind and have fun with out drinking. I know meditation will be a good thing….but its not exactly social.

50 yrs. old MM and still going. asked: I know everyone is different.
But can you sense an anxiety attack coming on?
If so what symptoms, or feelings do you get?
Thanks for your help.
Also any “secret” relaxation techniques that work for you?
Emmas mommy:
Maybe I had anxiety a million years ago, and did not know it.
I used to have those fainting spells, but also had blood pressure problems.
Always thought it was that.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND WORDS!

niceice asked: Do you think they are real illnesses? Or just a psychological ‘hurdle’ as it were – something that just occurs in some of us due to childhood experiences or unknown reasons?
Something that can be cured by bringing oneself back to reality? Or something that requires medical treatment? What are your veiws?
thanks :]

TruthSeeker asked: I was under a lot of stress earlier today and had some caffeine as well…as I was talking to someone about what was stressing me out so badly, I almost fainted 3 times. My heart was beating very hard, although only slightly faster than normal. I was shaking and felt like I couldn’t breathe right. I always have floaters in my eyes because of an astigmatism, but they got much worse during all this. Since that happened, I’ve had a very fatigued soreness in both my legs up to my lower back to where I don’t feel like I can even walk (as if I’d just run a marathon). I do have diagnosed generalized anxiety, but have not experienced something like this before. Are these symptoms of a panic attack? If not, are they symptoms of another illness?
