Definitely check with a dentist. His 6 year molars erupt at age 6 to 7, usually at the later end of 6/7 for boys.
Could be new teeth or could be grinding and gritting teeth at night while he sleeps. Could also be a tooth decaying from the inside and you can’t see a cavity. The pain could be from an infected tooth. See a dentist real soon to be on the safe side.
