how to beat anxiety / panic attacks ? what are your symptoms?

had stress test,bloodwork,,eccocardiogram all was good,but im having trouble believing this or stress can cause this but thats what doc says ….what to do ???

    First…know that you’re not alone and that you’ll be okay. Panic attacks are distressing and uncomfortable – but they ARE NOT dangerous.

    There are a lot of resources out there for people with panic/anxiety disorders. I read Dr Edmund Bourne’s Anxiety & Phobia Workbook. It’s a great resource and has a ton of step-by-step activities to help you learn to cope with and fend off panic. You can find it on amazon.com.

    Another thing that will help is connecting with other people who feel the same way as you. I chat on ENcourage Connection….linked below.

    DON’T PANIC!

    OK, now . . . you need to learn meditation. A person who panics easily is at risk for dangerous responses to that which startles him or her. It takes practice to be able to control the panic, remember to use your brain. First, remember to breathe! Take a deep breath before you make any response, no matter how urgent the response may seem to be.

    But seriously, learn to meditate. Then when something startles you, you will recognize it as just a startle reflex, and not a life-threatening situation that you can’t handle. You will get over the startle reflex quicker and quicker, until at last you will simply turn your head in the direction of the startling noise or flash, and respond with your intellectual analysis, not your panic fight/flight animal responses.

    I tried anti-depressants and was on 20 mg’s of Prozac a day but I was unable to laugh out loud and friends said it made my personality bland. Try what auntb93 suggests, take a class on meditation. This is the only way I learned to get through it.
