I’ve been having anxiety attacks every night for about 5 nights in a row now?

I’ve been having symptoms of numbness in my upper left arm, my face feels a little numb, I get rapid heart beat, and sometimes hot flashes all randomly throughout the day and at night is when it starts to get a lot worse. I was prescribed Klonopin today. and I was wondering how long it takes to get in your system. I am taking half a miligram breaking the pill in half and taking a half twice a day. I’ve been really scared that something is wrong with me and I was wondering if all the symptoms I listed above are normal to keep happening during the day? Also, I took my Klonopin earlier and it made me feel a bit better and about 3 hours later it was worn off. Does anyone know why? I just need some advise and relief that things are gonna be okay. Half the time I don’t know what to do. I can barely even eat right. I get spasms in my neck when I start to eat. I don’t know. Can anyone give me any advise?

The dose may be a bit low but best ask your doctor. I used to get bad anxiety attacks. They can be just horrible. Once the doctor told me what they were he gave me Klonopin and it helped right away. I don’t remember the dose but he upped it a bit. The lower the dose is better if you are going to need it for just a short time or even if you need it longer. Talk therapy is good also while you are on the Klonopin.
As for your neck problems and numbness I would suggest a good Chiropractor as numbness sometimes suggests some nerves are being pinched somewhere. I go to a Chiro often for a neck problem and it has worked wonders.
Good luck.

I used to have panic attacks. They started out at night. I thought I was having a heart attack. I was having the same kinds of symptoms that you described. Then I would occasionally have them during the day. I went for all kinds of tests just to rule out the fact that I was not having a heart attack. My doctor prescribed Xanax for me to take. It was a small dosage and I only took half a pill. My doctor told me if I had an attack during the night that I should immediately take my meds, go into a semi-dark room and find a corner to sit in and remain very calm and think good thoughts while I waited for the meds to start acting.
If you get scared the symptoms worsen. I have never taken Klonopin, so I am not sure how long it should last. The Xanax would last for a few hours for me and when I would first take it, it would make me relax and let me go back to sleep.
My attacks were happening about once a week to begin with because I was going through a very stressful time in my life. When I got rid of most of the stress, I stopped having the panic attacks. I haven’t had one in about a year now.
I don’t know anything about the spasms…sorry.
Hope this helps a little. Just try to remain calm and try some simple deep breaths in and out when you have an attack.

I work at a pharmacy and Klonopin is a benzodiazepine which basically means that it is supposed to calm down your central nervous system which is making you feel anxious. I would say about 9 weeks that is usually how long actually that is the longest that I have heard someone on Klonopin. The treatment should not last longer than that. Normally If your anxiety continues then it should be evaluated. Many people that get anxiety attacks, like myself, get it from time to time and only when they feel its coming on is when they take something for it. Things will be ok I went through a rough time and had anxiety attacks and then I had them for small things that I unconsciously I was stressed out about but they went away and from time to time I get them here and there but I do not take drugs for it I just deal with it. My advice to you is take the meds for as long as the doctor prescribes them if you still have not gotten better then you should go to a specialist and have that checked out it can also be triggered by depression which must also be treated ok. So get better and good luck Keep us updated.
Well nine weeks is how long they studied its effectiveness now after that they are not able to determine if it is still effective through long term use. Im talking about 9weeks everyday taking it not 5 yrs with onset of symptoms.

The last poster said 9 weeks is all they have heard someone being on Klonopin?
Funny, but I’ve been on it for about 5 years. Where do you get 9 weeks from?
