There are tons of anti anxiety medications. Some affect the brains neurotransmitters. Each one can have different side effects. Some can be dangerous to stop immediately and require a weaning of them.
This is a question for your doctor or pharmacist.

Your nightmares will be from your own anxiety! You take that medication for a reason, why are you stopping it? You should be consulting your doctor being stopping this medication. Rethink this one!

Is your anti-anxiety medication a benzodiazepine–such as xanax, serax, ativan, klonopin??
How often do you take it?

Benzos often block REM sleep–when you dream. So stopping them ‘may’ cause you to dream more–or remember your dreams more. Not necessarily nightmares though.
    I’d ask your psychiatrist.

DO NOT just cold turkey your medicine. if your try to get off of them slowly do it please. take one one day… half the next few days then see how u feel after that. stopping your medication immediately could causes seizure and alot of other serious side effects

I don’t know what you were taking, nor what dose. It can cause major anxiety when you are taken off your anxiety medication. I know that sounds odd, but it’s true. You might ask another doctor to prescribe you some klonopins 2 mg. four times a day. They are safer and really help a lot of people. I take 40 mg. of valium a day and 30 mg. of dalmane.
