Jake D asked:
On 4 occasions I have experienced this intensely. Usually when anxiety is occuring.. with a fast heart rate. Once it happened after I ran up 7 flights of stairs. I do not do any cardiovascular workouts so this is alot for me and causes a very fast heart rate.. When this occurs I can feel my artery by my shoulder pulsating very powerfully, there is also pain/discomfort in this area.. I went to the hospital after this happened the second time and was given a chest xray and a EKG and the results were negative. I am planning on seeing my doctor and having a stress test done with a cardiologist. In the mean time, does anyone have any idea what is causing this?? Thanks.
I am 22 years old..
my arms and legs fall asleep quite often and quite easily.. Poor circulation?? related?

male38years asked: I am a 38 year old male. Healthy for all intents and purposes. I am 5’8″ and 145 lbs. I eat pretty well, and exercise once or twice a week.
Here’s the deal. I used to drink a couple nights a week and drink good, I mean like get really drunk. I have experimented and used small amounts of ecstasy and cocaine with alcohol in my late twenties to early 30′s. I haven’t used ecstasy for at least 4 years and I very very rarely do a line here and there. It’s just not for me anymore. I very rarely drink now, since about 2 years ago. maybe about once every 4 months I get liquored at some special event.
Here is the medical breakdown. I have a stressful job. Very stressful. Lately I have been having more abdominal discomfort, like a nagging feeling, I sometimes feel dizzy like I’m going to pass out. I eat pretty normal. I didn’t used to drink a lot of water, but now I make myself. Water was not a part of my diet for a long long time. I just **** the taste of it and I urinate all the time, too much. Anxiety has been coming upon me more and more lately. I have a lack of focus and sometimes muscle pains in the muscles next to my scapula on my left side. Sometimes if I lay the wrong way on an arm or leg it falls asleep faster than normal. I also have an upper extremity hemmangioma on my left hand that I’ve had there since childhood. It has never hurt, and always been deemed cosmetic. It now is giving me some sort of discomfort from time to time.
On a lesser note, as I am getting a little older, I am ********* a lot, I mean a lot. Every half hour. But not much comes out. And the stream is kind of weak.
I have a doctors appointment in a few weeks to get a check up, but of course I am neurotic and am worrying about stuff all the time. I am one of those people that can’t control the worry. Almost to the point where I think I may need to talk to a head doctor and get some anti-anxiety medications. If not, I could end up getting fired.
I have an extreme phobia to needles which has always kept me from getting medical treatment. I even needed stitches one time and a nurse that was on scene at the event, butterflied my gash on my leg and now there is a huge scar. I literally cannot go to the doctors because of this phobia. I have to now. I live alone and I am afraid to pass out or have a heart attack from stress and not have anyone at home to help me. I actually was awakened the night before a big meeting that I was worried about with some pains in my chest. I had no other symptoms of heart attack next to that, so I stayed awake and drank some chamomile tea for the anxiety and didn’t go back to sleep on purpose.
I know I sound neurotic, but this fear just has me petrified and now I can’t avoid it anymore. Am I just driving myself crazy? Reading all above, what would you say?
On a side note. I have had anxiety lately that has caused me to get a couple of xanax from my neighbor, which I have done on a few occassions before and it helped me immensely. Most of the symptoms went away. I somehow don’t see doctors prescribing xanax much anymore and I have heard nightmare stories about Lexipro and other anti anxiety meds. I’ve altered my diet to help as well. For some reason I can’t get rid of the nagging feeling in my gut ever. It feels like a dull burning discomfort. Never sharp pains. Thanks all so far. Appreciated.

Tox asked: I have been sore throughout my body on-and-off the past few days. My legs hurt sometimes (my thighs), my back sometimes, my neck and jaw sometimes, my stomach sometimes and my arms sometimes.
I don’t have any other symptoms. Somtimes I feel nauseated but not too often. I take levothyroixine for my hypothyroidism.
I went to the ER the other night and they took an EKG and chest x-ray and they apparently came back normal. They said that my heart rate for my EKG was high but that it was normal since I went in with the symptoms of an anxiety attack. Also, when I first went in, my blood pressure was high but has since gone back down to normal. The doc even listened to my heart and said that everything was fine.
Has anybody else had symptoms like this? What should I do? My father had cardiomyopathy and it freaks me out that I am getting it. Any advice helps!
I am a 24-year-old male. The doc said that I was too young to have a heart attack.

harmonyplz asked: For years now I have been having problems off and on. At first I thought I could be having a heart trouble…then because of my age..(33) .many people have told me that the symptoms I am experiencing is probably anxiety or panic attacks. After a couple of years of these symptoms these problems seem to be getting worse. I am going to explain what I go through and if anyone has any idea at all what this could be PLEASE let me know. I know I am going to get a lot of answers telling me to see a doctor…but the plain fact is I don’t have health insurance…I am on unemployment and can not afford to see the doctor…so short of me having a heart attack there is probably no chance of me going to the doctor. Just knowing what this might be would help me greatly then I could look to home remedies and or lifestyle changes to make it better.
Most of these symptoms happen at night…when I lie down for bed…I am not sleeping yet but just getting relaxed…usually my eyes are closed and and then all of a sudden I experience blood rushing all through my body…I feel the rush from the center part of my chest to my head and down my arms and legs. My hands and feet start to tingle. I feel almost as if I am falling or about to lose consciousness…almost like I am going to black out. I feel like I could stop breathing and even sometimes I sit straight up in bed to take a gulp of air. Usually during these times I check my blood pressure and it is kind of high…not to high..but last night my readings were 147/90. There is a tightness in my chest and some pressure but not pain really. Just discomfort. Sometimes it feels like I am choking or my throat closing in…I even feel fluid coming into my throat sometimes and find it hard to swallow. I do have chronic heartburn but usually not in the evening. Sometimes I feel very dizzy or lightheaded and sometimes my feet go numb as if I am having circulation issues. Other times I have a dull pain in my upper left chest area almost in front of my shoulder..above my ****** and I feel like I have to move my arm and shoulder around to work out the tightness.
These symptoms have been happening to me for a few years now…sometimes I can go months without having them other times I have them every night for months. I truly don’t believe I am having anxiety attacks even though the symptoms are similar…quite frankly I am not an anxious person…I am very laid back and take things as they come. I do not overly worry about things and I am not generally stressed out.
I really hope someone out there can point me in the right direction. I am a mother of two boys and really don’t want to go to bed one night and never wake up…I am scared…and I know I need to get ot the DR’s but I just can’t afford it. Please if anyone knows what this is let me know. Thanks so much!
Forgot to mention heart palpatations and flutters too.

ramesh i asked: I get frequent panic attacks after my “run in” with a heart problem I had a year ago. Panic attacks for me comes in waves and does not leave me for 3 – 4 days. It makes me feel very scared and depressed and I am edgy all the time. I keep feeling pain sensations in my chest, back and arm and can’t get over the feeling – that I am going to die or get a heart attack.
I did go to the doctor and my heart specialist. They can’t find anything unusual in my heart …they have given me some medications for this panic disorder – xanax – but that freaks me out and the withdrawal symptoms are awful. Thanks

Karen B asked: I have been reading online about panic attacks. They say that panic attacks aren’t good for us, at more risk for this or that. They teach people with panic attacks that it will not harm them. But excercise is good for us. What? Panic is like running. Fight or Flight responds.

Luke asked: I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and if I get a bad one, I notice at the ER that my blood pressure shoots through the roof. Nothing TOO high but it can go 130/140s and very close to 150s, and the lower number can go into the 100-110 range.
Is this something I should be highly concerned with?
It normally drops to like 100 over 60 afterwards when I’m sedated, and it never stays at that level, but it can shoot up there in a matter of MINUTES!
Should I be concerned, becuase none of my doctors seem to be at all, whatsoever,
but people on this message board go crazy if you mention anything over 120/80.
I n eed some true advice.
I just saw a cardiologist today and he didn’t seem the slightest bit concerned.
He didn’t do any extensive tests on me since I Had heart palpitations frequently, but im also sick, so maybe during illness its more normal?
He said the palps and the anxiety/panic high bp are nothing to worry about.
Is this true?
I also notice that SOME times my LOWER number seems to be the most dramatically increased, and other times its the HIGHER number.
What could cause the lower one to increase, and what would cause the higher?

cutiezzz asked: I dont have full-blown panick attacks often but recently I’ve been experiencing anxiety for no apparent reason which comes in waves on and off again everyday for weeks. then other days i’m fine. I’ve checked other sites that list symptoms for panick attacks and back pain is not part of the symptoms. its frustrating coping with it wen i know it’s not dangerous but random heart compultions keep occuring. not to mention it’s very uncomfortable and painful.
