Here’s my background info: I’m 34, I live with my parents, no wife or kids, have a part-time job, and have 2,000 in credit card debt that I’m trying to pay off within the next two months.

O.K., here’s what’s been going on in my life:
Everything was going fine until about two months ago. Some unexpected expenses had to be paid, and the only money I had to pay with were my credit cards. The debt has been slowly increasing. Then, just as I started a new job that I got last month, some moderate anxiety/depression/quasi-panic attack symptoms began appearing. Since then, I’ve become increasingly paranoid about most everything. My sleep is awful now, which intensifies my anxiety during the day.

Then, I went to my dentist to have a simple chipped molar bonded. She insisted upon filling the tooth, and during the procedure she ground too much off of my lower-left molars, which has caused my teeth to not fit correctly. As a result, I have been having severe TMJ (TMD) jaw and ****** pain, and I cannot eat many of the things I did a mere few weeks ago. I recently went back to the dentist because the pain was so bad, and told her that I needed to have an adjustment made on the teeth, and that I suspected that the misalignment was causing the symptoms of TMJ and the ****** pain. This dentist said that there was nothing that could be done, and that she didn’t see anything wrong. However, when the dentist had me bite down on the colored paper in order to see where the teeth were hitting one another, the upper and lower teeth were not touching where I suspect she ground too much during the procedure. I was given a prescription for Soma and Vicoden, and told
that I could be referred to one of the dentist’s colleagues for a second evaluation.

Distraught, I took the advice of my former orthodontist, went back to the dentist to request an adjustment on my teeth, and after getting nowhere with the dentist who botched the work, I went to a lawyer who represented me several years ago. After telling him about the pain that I have been in and how the dentist screwed up, he then casually mentions that one of his best friends is the spouse of this dentist, and that my chances of winning such a lawsuit were not very good simply because the burden of proof would be too high, and that the legal fees for such a case would be too expensive.

So now my damn teeth no longer feel right and my jaw hurts, and it appears that i have screwed up by going to the wrong lawyer!

I feel anxious and uncomfortable all of the time. I can’t see how I can continue feeling like this anymore. Could you please offer me some advice. I don’t know how to deal with it, and have prayed about it so many times. I do not know what else to do, and feel like I am losing my sanity.

I know that numerous people, especially strangers, have been looking at me like I am crazy lately. They look at me like I’m a freak. All of this is driving me crazy. I wish that none of this crap was happening to me right now – - that I could simply turn back the clock four months ago, and start over again.

I know I need to get a night gaurd to prevent any teeth damage, but I want to stop this all together; any suggestions?

A dentist talked me into replacing old silver fillings with white ones..he said the old ones were pulling away and decay may have started. They did not hurt but I thought better be safe than sorry. He filled them and they hurt for a week or so and I thought that they were just tender..three weeks later I could not eat, drink cold or hot bevarages or food on those teeth…I returned to a previous dentist and he took exrays and showed me stripes of grey between the white teeth and the white composite…he had to do a root canal on one of the filled teeth and when he opened it up found that the previous dentist’s work the substance that formed a grey stripe was uncured??? AS in the dentist had not waited long enough for it to cure or his light bulb was weak (a device that cures the filler)….so all five teeth that he worked on ALL have stripes and the dentist said that all the teeth would have to be redone? There most probably is decay starting in again…Can I sue for moneys and pain?

I am thinking of taking it with out a doctors order because I can’t afford to see one.I had a bad tooth ache that resulted in an abcess.My whole right side of my jaw is getting swollen and painful.I am so uncomfortable and helpless.I know some one who gets penicillian from mexico with out prescription and is going to give me some.Feeling that I have to do something about my health problem I am thinking of taking it.Besides my husband went through a tooth ache recently and the dentist put him on a 500mg penicillian and pain killer-tylonal.So I figure It seems ok.Does any one think different though.Some expert advice some one can give me about what I am thinking of doing.Will I live to tell my awful infected painful tooth ache story?

I had it removed last tuesday 3pm. At 5 ish, after the local anesthetic wore off, pain set in. It was very bad. I was sent out the surgeon’s door without pain meds and told ibuprofen or tylenol would work. I was OK when I left so I figured he was right. I took 600mg ibuprofen a half hour after the prosedure. The pain turned out to be pretty severe, so I called the answering service to see if I could please have something for the pain. My surgeons partner, Dr. Francis, was connected to me as my doc, Dr. Albers, wasn’t available. He said I should have called earlier and there was nothing he could do for me. He didnt see me, didnt know who I was, and wouldnt agree to call my doc. I grew up with a uncle and grandfather, both with the lord now, as my dentist/ oral surgeon… so I kinda understand the “After hours calls” that some patients make and what goes on in a dental practice. I persisted to say that its not fair that a tooth was yanked out of my mouth and I was whisked away without any provisions at all for pain management. Dr. Francis told me to take it up with his partner, Dr. Albers, who would be back in town Friday.. and then he hung up on me! Wow, I thought. I called back and he wouldnt take my call. They took a message. He never called me back. I called my dentist, Dr. Tuneberg, and he took care of me by prescribing a modest amount of Vicodin. All I needed! Just a few to get me by until nature set in and did its healing. The following day, I ate a meal, and began to notice that air was moving from my mouth into the void where the tooth was and then somewhere else a little deeper. I knew then that it was a sinus perforation. Throughout the day, a rush of clear watery liquid would pour out my nose if I bent over. It really didnt hurt much, but I was concerned that I might get an infection that would last forever like everybody else talks about on the net. I went to the immediate care center that evening and the doc there started me on Keflex assuming that an infection might be on the way. I also added that on November 12, I was diagnosed with strep throat and given a 10 day dose of amoxicillin, and I still had a sore throat. He figured the Keflex would cover it all. So I began taking the meds right away. I saw Dr. Albers Friday. He cleaned out the socket and packed it with a nasty tasting spongy material. He said it couldnt be a perforation. It was dry socket. But why the air transfer? No answer. He said to give it til Monday. From about two hours after I left til Monday, the socket pain got better. But the sinus pressure incresed. I returned Monday and he said it looks good and needs time to heal… which I understand. I feel slated by their practice from the minute Dr. Francis hung up on me. I just dont trust them and honestly I am pretty pissed that I have blatantly been Brushed Off. I understand they do tons of extractions. They hear people coomplaining of pain all day. They are seasoned surgeons and know that time will cure all and seem to rely on that. But unfortunately, that mind set can get them in trouble if they fail to address real issues. They just seem to not care, so I Have lost faith in them and turn to my net society.

My question… I am currently experiencing ear pain just below my ear. It hurts like hell. The sinus pressure has subsided… or maybe Im just used to it.

My question is.. what next? Dr. Albers said just let nature take its course and do the healing. I agree. But, what can I do to speed my recovery? Is it normal to experience pain in my ear after almost a week of the Keflex? Thanks.
