Can cancer spread before i even notice it?

June 18th, 2010

Jon D asked:

More specifically, can colon cancer spread to Malenoma or vice versa? Im currently displaying colon cancer symptoms and plan to get it checked out. But i also have an odd mole under my armpit. I have yet to experience and extreme symptoms, i feel decent(aside from anxiety and panic attacks) and i have no blood in my stools. So hopefully if i actually do have cancer it hasn’t reached the point where its spreading already. What do you think?

Melanoma and colon cancer are generally separate cancer forms.

However, cancer can and does spread before patients are aware of symptoms.

If you are displaying symptoms then see a Dr and get a diagnosis.

I honestly hope you don’t have cancer. Unfortunately cancer can spread like a wild fire before you notice any serious symptoms. Colorectal cancer, Stomach cancer, Liver cancer, Gallbladder cancer and brain cancer are the worst culprits for that. Melanoma is completely different type of cancer from colorectal. However it is possible to have two primary cancers.
You need to be running to your doctor as fast as you can for a complete physical.

You sound a little bit like a hypochondriac. You have anxiety which is very common among the hypochondriac population.
No colon cancer cannot turn into another type of cancer. Melanoma usually goes straight to the lungs or brain.
If your having colon cancer symptoms, you would have bloat, constipation and bloody stools and possibly diarrhea.

Yes cancer can spread without your knowing it. However colon cancer cannot spread to melanoma or the other way around they are two separate diseases and when they spread it is to another area of the body not to another disease. I think you need to take one thing at a time you haven’t even been diagnosed with cancer.

You are wise to get your concerns checked out by a physician. Keep a journal and note ANYTHING unusual that’s going on in your body so that you’ll remember to tell the doctor.
    Best wishes
