I lived the same experience at your age. After years and thousands of dollars spent on talk therapy, I finally decided to rely on an effective tranquillizer. It really is the best choice. From the viewpoint who had the exact symptoms and struggles you describe. I am afraid that psychiatrists and psychologists string you along with talk therapy when as practical matter it promotes their financial interest. I feel my advice is appropriate. Please consider the points I have attempted present.

look for a Vocational Rehabilitation Program in your area, they can help you find a suitable job that you would be comfortable with and have support on the job. They can help a lot, and would be able to give you other valuable information on programs that could be of service to you.

I have a friend with this disorder and she is doing much better now. I am sorry to tell you, but the only way to overcome most fears is to confront them. I understand that you don’t need to hear this now, but is important. You need to take baby steps and celebrate every small success. You can do this! Instead of focusing in the desorder try to focus on the job you wish to have. Pray about it and ask God to give it to you. Then, you will be able to do it, little by little, in small steps. Everything is possible for God. You will be free, start believing that NOW.

Social anxiety disorder is one of the most common anxiety disorders, affecting between 7 and 13% of the population. People with social anxiety disorder tend to feel quite nervous or uncomfortable in social situations. They are very concerned that they will do something embarrassing or humiliating, or that others will think badly of them. These individuals are very self-conscious and constantly feel “on stage.”

Social anxiety can be a problem when it becomes too intense or happens too often. When it does, social anxiety can cause significant distress and affect many aspects of a person’s life including:
    Work and school
Examples: difficulty with job interviews; problems interacting with bosses or co-workers; trouble asking and answering questions in meetings or classes; refusing job promotions; avoiding certain types of jobs or career paths; poor performance at work or school; decreased enjoyment of work or school.
    Relationships.
Examples: difficulty developing and keeping friendships and romantic relationships; trouble opening up to others; difficulty sharing opinions
    Recreational activities/Hobbies.
Examples: avoid trying new things; avoid taking classes or lessons; avoid activities that involve interacting with others, such as going skiing or to the gym
    Day-to-day activities.
Examples: difficulty running errands and completing daily activities, such as going grocery shopping, going out to eat, taking the bus, asking for directions, etc.
Social anxiety disorder is associated with a number of other problems including low self-esteem, poor body image, depression, and substance abuse problems.

!Is social anxiety disorder the same as shyness?
The short answer is “No, it’s much worse.” Social anxiety disorder is a kind of extreme shyness: extreme to the point of avoiding social situations and causing disruption to social and professional relationships.

For example, if you get the jitters before making a speech or presentation, that’s considered pretty normal. If you call in sick to avoid making the presentation, that’s a clue that your anxiety exceeds normal levels. The shy guy might be too nervous to ask someone to dance at a party, but the person with social anxiety disorder, sure that everyone will decide his clothes are uncool and that he’ll spill a drink on himself, will skip the party altogether.

A person with social phobia might fail to attend the first meeting of a class or conference because she knows she’ll be asked to introduce herself. Another might worry all week about a weekly team meeting at work, deathly afraid that he’ll be required to describe what he’s working on or even answer a question. Some people with social anxiety disorder find it difficult to pick up a phone and call the cable company (what if the person on the other end thinks her request is stupid?), stand in line at the supermarket (he knows people aren’t really staring at him, but he feels as if they are), or simply walk down the street (what if she has to talk to someone?).

Consult your doctor, there is help out there. Do not wait too long, depression will be next.
If left untreated, Social Anxiety Disorder can add to the onset of other developmental problems, and other conditions such as depression, eating disorders, …with Social Anxiety disorder is excessive, and results in substantial impairment in the person’s social, emotional, interpersonal and occupational life.
If left untreated, Social Anxiety Disorder can add to the onset of other developmental problems, and other conditions such as depression, eating disorders, avoidant personality disorder, drug and alcohol abuse, and sometimes *******.

When I was a child I suffered from extreme shyness and panic attacks. Then then followed Social Anxiety Disorder and now I suffer from depression.

Consult your doctor asap.please if not it will get worse. I lost everything, wife, family friends work……..i live in a cage now and sometimes ******* is in my mind………the final solution to pain. please do something ask for help dont be ashame!

The World Psychiatric Association estimates that 3 per cent of the population suffer from this condition at any one time. Other studies suggest the figure to be as high as 8 – 15%.

    Good luck!
